After aerial photography revealed a camouflaged Russian P-12 radar in Egypt, Intelligence proposed the site be raided and the brought back to Israel. Intelligence, paratroopers and the Israeli Air Force participated in the operation. The radar was dismantled and taken to Israel by helicopter. The operation is considered one of the most daring and creative in the history of the IDF.
