The first intifada was a violent uprising of Palestinians in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip. The riots initially erupted in Gaza on December 9, 1987, following the death of four Palestinian workers hit by an Israeli truck at the Erez Crossing. The unrest spread to the West Bank and officially ended with the signing of the Oslo Accords in 1993.
